About the author

Preferring a quiet life herself when it comes down to it, Natalie Thorpe finds that her family life as a mother of three provides enough excitement as it is, but having lived a thousand lives through the stories written by other (fantasy) fiction writers, she thought it high time to spin a tale of her own.

After studying English language and literature, Natalie made the switch to become a teacher in primary education but has since quit teaching to prioritise her family while she moonlights as a caregiver for the elderly and dreams of being a full-time author.

Besides being an avid reader, Natalie Thorpe often spends her time walking with her dog in the woods near her home in the Netherlands, listening to music or taking on yet another hobby.

Her penchant for morally grey characters and the fantasy genre started at a young age with Jareth the Goblin King and her favourite movie Jim Henson’s ‘Labyrinth’ (1986).

Copyediting is the simplest form of editing. If you choose this option, all grammatical errors, typos, and spelling mistakes will be removed from the manuscript. Awkward sentences will also be pointed out. Everything revolves around word usage. Costs: €5,00 per 1.000 words (excl. 21% tax).

A more extensive form of editing will be substantiveediting. In addition to copyediting, I'll take a look at:

• style errors;
• content contradictions;
• the credibility of characters’ actions;
• character development;
• the narrative arc.

This pertains to one round of editing and does not include any editing to changes in or rewrites of the manuscript.
Costs: €10,00 per 1.000 words (excl. 21% tax).

All edits will come in the form of suggestions; you, the author, has the final say in whether to accept them or not. After all, it is your book!

Proofreading
I will write a detailed reading report in which I identify the points of your story that I believe may need some work. In the form of suggestions I'll provide feedback on the structure, plot, characters, credibility, and writing style and point out any inaccuracies I may find. You are by no means obliged to follow my advice, once again, you are the author! 
Costs: €5.00 (excluding 21% tax) per 1000 words
